HAUS OF GLITTER
SOUNDBATHS + MEDITATIONS
The Haus of Glitter creates original soundbath meditations — this project is an invitation to breathe (and take mental health walks if you can // want to) alone, with an elder, with a neighbor, with a friend, and/or with a family member
WEAVING (JUNE 2023)
This summer 2023 soundbath was co-created with multidisciplnary artist, Alexx Temena, for The House of Kapwa, co-built with Andrea Yarborough (in care of Black women), an interactive and ceremonial outdoor installation on the southside of Chicago honoring Rest, collective care, ecological grief, and the Filipino indigenous virtue-ethic of Kapwa: shared interconnectedness, or ‘unity-of-self-and-other.’ The House of Kapwa invites us to sense the relationship between how we care for ourselves, how we care for each other, and how we care for the Earth.
This soundbath was recorded during an intimate soundbath creation ceremony in Chicago, IL with local artists BSA Gold, JR Kelly, Sulyiman & Ryan Garza at the Historic First Church of Chicago.
We encourage our audience to visit the House of Kapwa public sculpture in Oakwood Beach, Chicago (41st street) AND/OR view the images of the sculpture online while listening to "WEAVING."

REGENERATION (WINTER 2022-2023)
This year's Winter Walking Meditation Series + original soundbath, "REGENERATION" commemorates the closing of a chapter: The Haus of Glitter's 3 years occupying the former home of Esek Hopkins, commander of the slavery ship "Sally"
We invite you to visit 97 Admiral St., the former home of The Haus of Glitter, to listen to this meditation. Take walking laps around the house, to nurture a forcield of protection and justice. Sit or lay under a tree. Stand, boldly, in front of the house and stare down the racist plaque dedicated to Esek Hopkins. Wander through the liberation garden and appreciate the plants and wildlife (you might even site a hawk) nestled in this park. While living in the park, we fell in love with the trees; the seasons; the squirrels; the moss; the geese; the hills; and we hope you will too.
We hope you will revisit our "WINTER (WALKING) MEDITATIONS" soundbath + meditation series often (and take mental health walks if you can // want to), to promote community mental health and solidarity during the challenging winter months and throughout the year.

With original instrumental music by AM., Anthony Andrade, one of Providence's 2020 Creative Community Health Worker Fellows, The Haus of Glitter will begin releasing this series of 6 (walking) meditations on Dec 21: the Winter Solstice // The Great Conjunction! As it gets colder and we become more isolated, it’s more important than ever for us to ground in the strength of community mental health. Repeat these meditations as often as you like -- take a walk alone; walk with (chosen) family, housemates or neighbors; schedule phone call or physical distance walk n talks with a friend or colleague and listen to one of our meditations before your meeting/catch up sesh; stay home and breathe from the comfort of a chair, your bed, or the floor! There's no wrong way to experience this album!

239 OXFORD STREET - 1/17/20
Click HERE to listen to the BEFORE YOU LISTEN Guided Meditation for this track
This is the fifth and final new meditation in the Haus of Glitter's Winter (Walking) Meditations Album. We hope you will revisit these meditations whenever they call to you. For this mediation, if you live in Rhode Island, we invite you to go to 239 Oxford Street in Providence for this meditation walk around the block! Feel free to take laps around the block to our full album and check out the resources below to research the neighborhood's history before you go. If you do not live in Rhode Island, go somewhere in your city where you can walk in laps, in circles or around the block over and over again.
Whether you choose to walk or listen from home, this meditation is an invitation to think about the cycles, the patterns, the rhythms around us. How does it feel to be in a rhythm? How does it feel to be out of rhythm? What patterns are showing up in our lives? What patterns are showing up in humanity? In the natural world around us? How can we take care of our selves and our community with this divine intelligence?
Please use #winterwalkingmeditations on facebook and instagram to share your journey and invite your family, neighbors, friends, coworkers and community to breathe with us during this Winter season.
TAKE A WALK TO BE WITH NATURE - 1/10/20
Click HERE to listen to the BEFORE YOU LISTEN Guided Meditation for this track
Our fourth meditation, "To Be With Nature" is an invitation to walk with the intention of connecting with Nature. This could mean driving to a hiking trail; walking to nearby water; connecting with the trees on your street or growing around your living space; or focusing on the veins on an individual leaf; or whatever you feel called to connect with in the natural world -- earth, water, wind, the sky.
Whether you choose to walk or listen from home, notice what comes up for you as you connect with earth. How can you be held by earth's wisdom? What did your ancestors do to connect with earth? How can you take better care of the earth today? How can you take better care of the earth this year? How can you incorporate nature's wisdom into your practice more often?
Please use #winterwalkingmeditations on facebook and instagram to share your journey and invite your family, neighbors, friends, coworkers and community to breathe with us during this Winter season.
TAKE A WANDERING WALK - 1/3/20
Click HERE to listen to the BEFORE YOU LISTEN Guided Meditation for this track
Our third meditation, "Take A Wandering Walk Anywhere" is an invitation to go wherever you feel called, even if it means driving somewhere just to walk; starting to walk without a destination in mind; or building a cozy fort in the living room. If you do decide to wander walk, don't forget to charge your phone!
Whether you choose to walk or listen from home, notice what comes up for you as you wander. Does it feel comfortable or uncomfortable? Let yourself feel however it feels to wander; to let your direction come from what your body needs; from what you need; from what our community needs. What can we do this week to embrace curiosity and re-organize around our needs?
Please use #winterwalkingmeditations on facebook and instagram to share your journey and invite your family, neighbors, friends, coworkers and community to breathe with us during this Winter season.
TAKE A WALK IN YOUR NEIGHBORHOOD - 12/29/20
THE FULL COLD MOON
Click HERE to listen to the BEFORE YOU LISTEN Guided Meditation for this track
Our second meditation, "Take A Walk In Your Neighborhood" is an invitation to reflect on the layers of history that we exist in on a daily basis. Whose history has been preserved in your neighborhood? How did you get to this neighborhood? Do you have a legacy in this neighborhood?
Whether you choose to walk or listen from home, remember what your home looked like last summer. What did your street look like a year ago? What did your block look like 5 years ago? Like a timeline slowly rewinding, continue to imagine and eventually, fantasize, about what your home, your street, your block might have looked like -- think back to the 90's, the 70's, the 50's, the 20's, the 1800's, during colonization, before colonization, and even before human civilization. How can we source this wisdom to imagine our homes, our street, our neighborhood to be a safer, more care-centered, and more liberating space?
Please use #winterwalkingmeditations on facebook and instagram to share your journey and invite your family, neighbors, friends, coworkers and community to breathe with us during this Winter season.
A WINTER BLESSING - 12/21/20
WINTER SOLSTICE + THE GREAT CONJUNCTION
Click HERE to listen to the BEFORE YOU LISTEN Guided Meditation for this track
For this first meditation, we are inviting you to sit. For the remaining 4 weeks, we will invite you to walk as a community mental health practice. As always, we also want to celebrate the diverse bodies that are in our community; that not all bodies walk; and to remind us that we get to decide how we heal. Please feel free to sit + walk + dance + lay + pause + get distracted and rewind + you can even wrap yourself in a snuggie with a glass of tea and fall asleep to this album.
Our first meditation, "A Winter Blessing" featuring a blessing from funmi + edwige, of blackearth lab, is intended as a daily or weekly listen during this Winter season as a routine practice of decolonizing the mind, body and spirit. Feel free to let the other meditations run on repeat, play alone, or play together, as often as you like.
Please use #winterwalkingmeditations on facebook and instagram to share your journey and invite your family, neighbors, friends, coworkers and community to breathe with us during this Winter season.
BLACK + BROWN FRIDAY - 12/4/20
For un-thanksgiving, The Haus of Glitter Performance Lab fasted at the Historic Esek Hopkins Homestead. We rested. We prayed. We meditated in silence. We had difficult conversations - bringing the social justice work to the people living under one roof together. Because decolonization pushes us to look at land, institutions, culture, community and relationships (with “self” and others).
This year, our glitter fam created our own tradition: BLACK + BROWN FRIDAY: a retreat for justice + feasting + artistic practice to pray for ancestral intervention. We spent the day making this visual meditation piece and poem to share our breath, movement, and voice.
THANKSGIVING MUST DIE
We cannot erase the murderous history of Thanksgiving from its name.
Can we give ourselves permission to more frequently take breaks to rest, feast, be grateful without celebrating colonization?
THANKSGIVING MUST DIE.
So it can be reborn.
Savasana
Connect with gratitude daily.
How does it feel
to put down your fists
so that you can participate
in the cultural reinforcement
of colonization
and white supremacy?
If you wished us
“Happy Thanksgiving!”
then you are complicit.
We do not accept.
This holiday
does not
make us
feel
happy.
And
if it makes you feel happy,
we invite you to question
what has conditioned
and mechanized you
to feel this way
why
does the memorialization
of genocide
make you feel happy?
How can we connect that joy
to the work
of our shared liberation
and decolonization?
“It’s part of our culture - just a harmless holiday - it doesn’t mean what it used to mean. It’s a joyous celebration now! An opportunity to feast with family; to be grateful.”
We are victims of a system
that tells us that Thanksgiving should live on.
We are victims of a system
that commercializing gratitude
What traditions
can we
question
and
reimagine?
How can we decolonize our gratitude today?
THANKSGIVING MUST DIE
SO it can be reborn
Into a day
that remembers
THIS moment
in history.
Deep breathe in.
And out.
How can we decolonize our gratitude tomorrow?
